illadelphia part 1: philly phood
dw and i recently went to philadelphia for the weekend. it had been a while since we'd been on vay-cay, and philly is close and kinda cool, so... ta-da. one of the main reasons i'd wanted to go to the city of brotherly love is to get my grubby mitts on some real-life, honest-to-goodness philly cheese-steaks. i didn't want to fuck around, so i went to the two most philly-est of philly cheesesteakeries, geno's

and pat's king of steaks

apparently there's some kind of rivalry between the two, which seems somewhat ridiculous as pat's had what was clearly the more delicious of the two cheesesteaks

it was juicier, and more flavorful than genos.
though to be fair, the cheese steak we got at pat's had cheez whiz on it

while the one we got at geno's had provolone, so that might have affected its relative deliciousness.
i got a little nervous about not ordering properly

but i managed to keep my cool, and was able to order without making a misteak

tt: food, Philadelphia

(eh, maybe just a little.) i was very much on a mission to get those cheesesteaks. the first/last time i'd gone to philly i went wit a friend of mine who used to weigh like 300lbs., but lost it all through diet and excercise. i kept saying that i wanted to get cheesesteaks, but he kept hemming and hawing, and long story short, we never got any because he didn't want to have to eat one. bastid.
