it's never sunny in philadelphia
unemployment has left me a bit restless lately, so i decided to fuck off a bit to philadelphia. even though i had been there recently, i decided to return to see some stuff i hadn't seen the last time i was there. i was also influenced by the fact that i've been watching a lot of "it's always sunny in philadelphia" lately. (which, i'm starting to realize is possibly a joke about philly's weather, because the two times i've been there in the past few months, it's been rainy and shitty.)
my first stop was the mutter museumm. the mutter is a museum of medical history and contains tons of old-timey medical equipment, bodies and body parts, fetuses in jars, etc. you're not allowed to take pictures, the place is tiny, and there were guards, so i couldn't snap as many pictures as i would have wanted. also, i thought it was a bit disrespectful to the people whose bodies were on display there to take pictures of them. so, i only have a few shots from the mutt museum

next up on my philly to-do list was checking out the philadelphia museum of art. while i liked the museum, i have to say that having spent my life making regular trips to the met and to moma, most other cities' art museums just don't quite snap my stringbean. i realize this makes me a big fat snob, but i gotta be me.

the last thing i wanted to do was to return to pat's and geno's, which i did. this time, i got a "whiz wit" from both places, and can now confirm that pat's totally makes the better cheesesteak. also, they'presumablybly less racist. on the way to the cheesesteakeries, i soaked up loads of local color, both metaphorical, like this charming sticker

and literal like this pink water fountain by kennedy plaza.

even though the water in the fountain i spink, it looks orange because the pool it's in is light blue.
i also saw my old friend, frost's "el toro" sticker, playing on a see-saw.
and finally,

cannuli house of pork. the only reason i took this picture is that the store was featured in last week's episode of "it's always sunny in philadelphia", "charlie got molested". it was a particularly good episode because rob mcelhenney, who i would totally go gay for, wore a tight t-shirt and short-shorts in order to seduce a character played by saved by the bell's mr. belding. if my heart had a mouth, and it could speak, it would say that i cherish you, rob mcelhenney... and, though in my life i may take many lovers, you will forever be my brown-eyed SFOC - Super Fox of the Century.
anywho, there's a good deal more pictures from my philly adventures on my flickr page here. enjpy them at your leisure.
