UPDATE: for pictures from the 2007 east village halloween dog parade in tompkins square, (as well as pictures from last week's halloween dog parade at carl schurz park) go here.
today was the 16th annual halloween dog parade in tompkins square park, in new york city's east village.

and yet again, i went to check it out and take pictures of the dogs in costumes. within a few minutes of having gotten there, i became overwhelmed with joy over what i saw. here are some reasons why:
dogs dressed as superheroes:

wonder woman dog

spider-man dog

bat-man dog
dogs dressed like famous people:

willie nelson

mr. t.

flavor flav!
people and dogs who both got dressed up:

biker dog
dogs dressed as food:

jelly belly dog

banana split dog
...and drink:

horizon milk dog
dogs who weren't being cooperative:

chinese food dog

fall leaves dog

bulldog who refused to wear his wrestling singlet while throwing shade
asian dogs:

chinese pug

sumo pug

sumo pug and his mom
dogs dressed as other animals:

seal dog

pig dog

pegasus dog

bee dog

bee bulldog

lion dog
and every possible other thing under the sun:

dog dressed up as a little girl

dog dressed up as a little boy dressed up as a giraffe

yoda dog

(p)unk dog

conjoined twin dogs

pumpkin corgi

poop factory

baby dog

fire hydrant

native american dog

cowgirl dog
after a few hours checking out the dogs in all their halloween costume glory, i was dizzy with dog love, and covered in dog slobber. all in all, this year's halloween dog parade was a devilishly good time

for more pictures i took at the dog parade, check out my flickr page.
happy halloween, y'all!

did i say dogs in costumes? i meant jack o'lanterns!
i know i was supposed to post pictures of dogs in costumes today, but the dog parade got rescheduled due to crappy weather. it'll be on the 28th, so expect pictures then. in the meantime, try to console yourselves with these pictures from my company's pumpkin-decorating party:
i work for an educational company, so my team's pumpkin had an educational theme:

other teams went with more cinematic themes

like this pumokin, depicting the scene from "the wizard of oz" where the wicked witch of the west melts after getting water on her.
other folks went for grossitating,

and some went for just plain awesome.

this pumpkin was created by the art department. the eyes are videos of the eyes of members of the department played on video ipods. the brain was supposed to pulse (and did, initially) but wound up not really working. still, the whole thing was a pretty awesome multi-media experience. check out the video for the full effect
the guy seen walking behind it is dave, the mastermind behind this e-jack o'lantern, and my new hero.

choose your own adventure.
i was playing around with pictures from my recent trip to d.c. and noticed that some of the pictures i took in the hirshhorn museum's sculpture garden looked as if they could tell some kind of narrative story. i tried thinking up some sharp dialog for the statues, or some clever narration to explain what was going on. but then i realized i am neither sharp nor clever. perhaps some of you are? if so, please enter what you think would be some good (witty, ridiculous, tragically ludicrous, ludicrously tragic) dialog or narration to go with the stories in the comments section. the best entry. the winner wins... uhm... a vague sense of satisfaction?

D.U.M.Beaux Arts
i know it's been a while since i rapped at ya, but i've been busy looking busy at my new job(!) and before that, soaking up fun before starting my new job. i took about a jillion pictures during over the past couple weeks, and i'm just now getting around to posting them up. sorry for the delay. i should be posting pretty regularly for the near future. let's pop a cork in the chatter and groove on what i saw at the (10th annual!) D.U.M.B.O. art festival. i saw some odd fauna:

pretty views of dead bodies

pretty ladies

bright colors

uhm, a lightbulb

and gay guys

the show itself was a totally killer, but my most favoritest thing i saw wasn't at the festival at all, but on the way to it. specifically, this dude walking across the manhattan bridge, being all, "it's not a pick it's scratch!"

i guess that means boogers are kosher?
as per the... youjh? yoozh? ewejz? i posted these pictures and others i took at the d.u.m.b.o. art festival on flickr.
