Some folks from the cast of Glee- Cory Monteith (Finn), Mark Salling (Puck), and Amber Riley (Mercedes), plus actress Nikki Blonsky and American Idol contestant Kimberly Locke sang Marshalls/T.J. Maxx themed-holiday carols in Bryant Park in conjunction with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. I took some pictures, and here they are:

i was pretty please with how this picture of Cory Monteith (Finn) came out.

this young lady was quite happy to be singing with Cory Monteith (Finn).

Cory Monteith (Finn) is apparently enough of a man to not think twice about rockin gout with a girl's pink toy guitar alongside Mark Salling (Puck).

Mark Salling (Puck) was a big draw for the many young (and not so young) ladies (and gents).

tonight's episode of the simpsons, "homer and lisa exchange cross words" was about homer getting ny times' crossword editor will shorts to make a special crossword puzzle in the new york times for lisa. they showed the puzzle on the air, and it's the same puzzle that's in today's times. i took a picture of the crossword from the paper in front of the tv when it was showing homer's puzzle. my faith in the simpsons (and to a lesser extent, the new york times) has been restored.

though i generally can't stay away from comic book conventions, i've been trying to ween myself from them lately. they're kind of expensive to get into, i already have waaaay too many comics already, and action figures. despite all this, i somehow stumbled into the new york comic con at the jacob javitz center this weekend. and boy am i glad i did. despite the fact that i went on "kid's day" there was an awful lot of skin to be seen.

these here are pictures of the anti-scientology protest at the church of scientology on west 46th street in new york city.

the rally was organized by anonymous. (hence the v for vendetta guy fawkes masks.)

it was on march 15, which is l. ron hubbard's birthday.

i've really been enjoying geoff johns' and gary frank's run on action comics, especially because he's pulling his completely disparate titles together. the lightning saga storyline from justice league is running into the action comics storyline, which is awesome. and what's even more awesomer is how these storylines intersect with johns' work on green lantern. in action comics 862, johns and frank introduce the rainbow brite of the DCU's 31st century, the legion of substitute heroes' rainbow girl, who "wields the power of the mysterious emotional spectrum..."

and is then shown glowing red and being angry

then she is blue and full of hope

and then glows green and is full of willpower

all of which directly link to the new corps that johns introduced in green lantern 25. very clevah, mistah johns!

da bomb threat checklist

my company's office is right across the street from ground zero, and the building it's in recently had a bomb scare. this past week we got a pamphlet on emergency preparedness which included the bomb threat advice and checklist i've scanned below.
Everyone in the office had a pretty good chuckle over it because who in their right mind is going to get a bomb threat and remain calm while they trying to convince the bomber to tell them what kind of bomb their going to get blown up by?

i took a picture of a dog dressed like a lion at the 2006 tompkins square halloween dog parade. i put it on flickr where it sort of sat there for a while, but then became my most popular picture by a mile. it's now my most viewed picture on flickr, with several thousand views more than my next most popular picture, that of gay-porn-star-du-jour, erik rhodes. anywho, since so many people look at it every day, and since i'm a bit of an obsessive, i check the picture's stats regularly. most of the hits to the picture weirdly come from yahoomail, and a very few come from people searching "costumed dog" or "funny dog" on flickr. sometimes the picture will get hits when people post it in flickr usergroups about dogs and such. today, the picture was linked to from two flickr groups which are definitely not about dogs and such:

my sister teaches autistic children, and one of her therapy tools is something called a bodysox. a bodysox (uhm... bodysok?) is basically an oversized lycra pillowcase that you can climb into, and develop body awareness and motor planning. it's also just supercool to goof around in. that's why my sister got one for each of my nephews for christmas. they totally went ape-doody over them, and played with them all day, as you can see here:
